Sushi

Sunday we created sushi!  It was our first try, and the hardest part was to actually obtain the fish!  However, we now have the sashimi grade tuna, and the sushi-making commenced.  We began by creating the rice, (easily done thanks to my new red rice cooker).  Who knew that this rice required so much vinegar?!  It was making my nose burn just from stirring it.  Next a wet cloth was required to be placed over the sushi rice until it cooled to room temperature.  Of course, I was washing my kitchen towels, so none were available.  Luckily, some decorative towels were found buried in my cabinets.  After wetting these, we covered the rice, and then had some time for it to cool.  During this time, we chopped the fillings and pulled out the cream cheese!  I rolled the first roll, and then Melissa, below are pictures of our finished products.  Melissa didn't use as much fruit filling as I did.  My roll, The Fruity Fish Roll, was pretty tasty!  Melissa made an inside-out roll.  So after we were done, and there was rice left over, I too made an inside-out roll.
